Dermatology question here.

So I'm fifteen and I have acne on my shoulders which I'm on meds for, but I'm too embarrassed to talk to my doc about my genital acne. And I have a gf that's pushing to go further and I don't know what to do. Please help.

Thanks for replying. Right now I'm orally taking two 100mg pills of minocycline and topically putting on epiduo in the morning on my shoulders. I've seen change in shoulders and stuff but no change down there.

Are you sure it's genital acne and not an STD?

Virgin. And yeah I'm sure, it behaves just like acne.

What medicine are you on for the acne? Accutane? Or something topical? Accutane will clear up the acne all over your body, not just your shoulders. And just to be clear, is it acne near the base where the hair is? Or like actually on your penis?

You can discuss whatever you want with your doctor, and don't be embarrassed about anything. The good ones never judge, and will never make you feel bad about asking anything. And personal note on your gf. It's sweet that she's the one pushing things along to go further. Don't be embarrassed about the acne.

I'm not really sure about epiduo on your genital regions... You should ask the doctor to see if it's okay to apply some along the region where there is hair growth. I suspect it's okay if you keep an eye on it and are not too crazy with it, but you should just ask to be sure. You can just make it a phone call if you're too shy to ask in person.
