A question about HIV transmission

I was in the delivery room when my niece was born to my sister who may have HIV. 10 minutes after the baby was born I held the baby who may have had infected fluid on her. I sustained a paper cut about 30 minutes before on one of my fingers. If the HIV fluid came into contact with my cut, could I be infected?

It's VERY unlikely but I would get tested now and in 6 months (often it takes that long to develop the antibodies you'd need to detect it).

HIV screening is now recommend for all sexual active adults in their 20s and 30s anyway, so I think it's good protocol regardless.

Technically, yes. [The probability: very low (<0.09%)](http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1991375-overview). Babies are usually cleaned and wrapped before handing them over to relatives, so I wouldn't be worried.
